Why I’m celebrating the planet Pluto on Earth Day

I have always loved astronomy since I was a medium sized child. My dad made me a sweet telescope and I fondly remember seeing the rings of Saturn, Orion’s belt and Mercury’s winged Nikes. There was a great show on TV back then called “Cosmos” starring Carl Sagan that was all about astronomy. I could rattle off the names of the planets billions and billions of times without missing a beat.

When I became a full sized adult I heard something about Pluto not being a planet anymore. Some buzz kill named Neil deGrasse Tyson Jr. high was going around telling everyone that Pluto wasn’t a planet. Then he had the temerity to host a reboot of Cosmos. His momma call him a planet imma call him a planet!
